I’m pretty sure that we got more wedding planning done today than most people accomplish in an entire month. I spent the entire day in our little cabin, only getting dressed and leaving when Mama Bear got to the point of starvation and declared that we were going out for dinner. Pickles came and went throughout the day, accomplishing all sorts of random tasks, including making us a delicious pancake, bacon and egg breakfast and bringing back Subway sandwiches for lunch. These days, the three of us are like a well-oiled machine, and when we have a task to complete, you’d better watch out because nothing will stand in our way.

It’d be hard to even list all the little things we worked on throughout the day. It is pretty crazy how much work goes into planning a wedding, and seeing as how this is a first for all of us, there’s a lot to learn. Our goal for today was to get some decorations ordered, reserve rental chairs, and address and prepare invitations. We made it more enjoyable by putting on music and taking regular wine/cookie/snack breaks. By the time Pickles got home in the afternoon we had crossed nothing off the list completely, but had made progress in every way possible.

We chose a nearby Italian restaurant for dinner. The food was tasty, but we all agreed that it couldn’t compare to last night’s gourmet feast. When we got back here to the cabin we were all exhausted from all those carbs, and we half-worked, half-watched the news until we decided it was time for bed. We hike back out tomorrow for a 4-day stretch to Burney Falls State Park and we’re feeling quite ready to put in some more miles and explore more of Northern California. As important as it is that we get our wedding planned throughout the summer (it is on October 24th), we also want to do our best to enjoy every moment of this thru-hike and to remain in the moment as much as possible. So today we looked ahead, but tomorrow we’ll feel the sun on our faces, the wind in our hair, and the burn in our muscles and we’ll leave our planning for another time.
